Base layerWe've chosen to offer Helly Hansen base layers. These are extraordinary garments that are used in arctic expeditions and on ski slopes all over the world. First, there's the merino wool layer that provides warmth. Then (the clever bit) Helly Hansen's LIFA fabric provides a moisture management layer - even the lightest of exercise will generate some heat and what you don't want is to be left with cold damp fabric next to your skin (try wearing a cotton t-shirt as a base layer and see what happens). LIFA is designed to move the moisture (far be it from me to call it sweat) away from your skin. But that's not all: those clever people at Helly Hansen have designed the LIFA fabric to have hollow fibres (like the polar bear's fur) and this traps in the warm air that you've generated.
So there you are, Helly Hansen Warm garments are made from merino wool and LIFA - most people are surprised just how well they work .... "I'm really warm", they say. Sometimes though people only buy a top .... does the polar bear only have fur on the top? No. Try warm legs too and treat yourself to Prowool thermal bottoms.
LIFA is a registered trademark of Helly Hansen.
